Social Prescribing is a means of enabling GP’s, nurses and other primary care professionals to refer patients to a wide range of local, non-clinical services.
Walking for Health – no booking required
-All ages and abilities welcome
-Beneficial for everyone whether it be a health problem or loneliness
-Walks last around 30-40 minutes
-Ran by trained walking for health leaders
-Walks are every Wednesday and Thursday meeting at room 1 Lower Building at 9:30am
Knit and Natter – no booking required
-All abilities and ages welcome
– Great for meeting new friends, relaxation and stress relief
-Sessions last one hour
-Every other Friday afternoon in room 1 Lower building 14:30pm
-tea and coffee provided
-Ran by Heather Birnie and Sophia Murray-John
Alzheimer’s Society – booking required
We have Paul Devine– dementia advisor
-Clinic at the Upper Building surgery held every other Wednesday
-Available to contact patients by home visit or telephone anytime, not only Wednesday
-He can offer information and advice on diagnosis , wills, power of attorney, protecting property, available benefits ,assistive technology, links to other services and the future
-Also provides information to people who are worried about their memory or are in the process of getting a diagnosis

Northern Rights – booking required
For people who need some support to progress towards sustainable employment
– part -funded by the European Union Social Fund and self-funded, so they can offer FREE, informal and confidential 1:1 sessions at AMG (and throughout Northumberland)
– Appointments and drop-ins will be held in the Upper Building every Tuesday between 9:30am-11:30am

We have Anne Lyst– Welfare Benefits/Macmillan Adviser from Citizens Advice Northumberland.
-Citizens advice appointments available every Monday at 9:30 or 13:30, face to face

-For people struggling with Welfare benefits or would like to know what benefits you might be entitled to
